Doug Boomer is a California native living in the Sierra Nevada mountains for most of his life. As a child, watching his uncle painting portraits and various figures inspired his interest in art.

Mr. Boomer became very enthused about "Western Art" after attending several art shows that his brothers Bob and John Boomer were featured in the 70's and 80's. Taking up painting as a hobby he took classes in oil and watercolors. Since retiring he has devoted more time to painting and has entered some local art shows receiving a couple of "Best of Show" and "First Place" awards.

Mr. Boomer has taken workshops from the Donald "Putt" Putman, Richard Gomez, and Joe Bohler. Additionally, he has taken painting courses from Gary Langdon, Joan Brumley, Jerome Grimmer, and Carlene Kostiw.

His paintings have had a range subjects including Wild Life, Landscapes, Cowboys, Native Americans, and Children. He is a member of "Yosemite Western Artists," "North Fork Arts Council" and "Clovis Art Guild."
